What Essence is for me

and what is my body of inquiry

Self-inquiry -> Human essence -> Perception -> Expression -> Form

I believe in:

Emotional truth · Embodiment · Self nourishment · Yoga · Devotion · Consciousness · Relationships · Beauty · Spirituality · Wholeness · Intentional living · Dignity in love · Inner & outer integrity

For me, returning to essence is going deeper in your own heart, removing distortion (in identity, environment, love) and living in integrity by finding alignment between inner truth and outer reality.

When this alignment is missing, something feels off, even if everything looks fine on the surface.

My body of inquiry is concerned with this relationship between essence, perception and expression  and with how what we understand within ourselves eventually becomes visible in the way we live and the forms we create.

Turning Inward

Where Life Brings You Back to Yourself

We spend much of our lives responding to what is happening around us: other people’s expectations, relationships, responsibilities, environments and circumstances.

Turning inward is the practice of becoming aware of what is happening within us: the body, breath, sensations, thoughts, emotions, desires and patterns through which we experience life.

This is one of the places where Yoga becomes meaningful to me, as a way of developing attention and becoming more intimate with our own experience.

The more closely we learn to observe ourselves, the more we can begin to distinguish what is true for us from what we have absorbed, adapted to or become accustomed to.

Turning inward is not withdrawing from life. It is learning how to meet life from a more conscious relationship with ourselves.

“Every time we meet I feel so good and energised, you are like a balm for my body and soul!”

A lover and a romantic, a fool and a sage, a free spirit with the mind of a genius and the heart of a child. (Gene Keys)

My work begins with a question: what happens when we become more honest about who we are?

I am interested in the relationship between inner experience and outer life: how what we believe, feel and understand within ourselves shapes the way we inhabit our bodies, our relationships, our choices, our environments and the forms we create.

Yoga, self-inquiry, writing, beauty, relationships and creative expression have all become different ways of exploring this territory.

I don’t see these as separate subjects. They are different expressions of the same inquiry: how do we return to what is essential and allow it to become more fully expressed in our lives?

Thank vou for being here and exploring these work with me.

Return to your own essence

There is a way back to the part of you that has not disappeared, even when life has taken you far from yourself.
